I’ve been a roofing contractor in Dallas for 40 years. I like to think that the products in our market are quality. Certainteed is certainly not one. My company had 5 defective roofs in 2023. One was Tamko the others were Certainteed class 4 roof. Certainteed denied every claim for every roofer that I have talked to in last 7 weeks. These shingles are so stiff and misshaped. Even in warm market like Dallas is these shingles are terrible. I can say they are far worse than anything I’ve seen in my 40 years. I will pay to replace this if I have to. My customer is 80 years old and is scared. They seem to trust me but they don’t really know me.

Tough question as all the shingles do not perform equally in different climates. We dropped Tamko around 10 years ago due to quality issues. We have moved over to Atlas StormMaster Shake with a 150 mph 15 year Warranty installation for customer piece of mind, and we have unforgivable high wind, and brutal high elevation UV rays. So far no issues over the last 3 years with this shingle

Y'all need to jump on the Malarkey train. Grab a Malarkey Highlander or Vista and every other shingle you've talked about and beat the hell out of them. That Highlander holds up better than all of them. Jump to the Vista for a class 4 hail rating and 20% thicker base. Not to mention the 2 inch fully backed nail strip is killer. Nobody hits the nail strip on the OC, Tamco, or GAF. Every other brand loses 20% of their granules in the first year, Malarkey's only lose 1% in the first year. Not enough for you? Every other brand is about to start using their rubberized asphalt blend over the next ten years. It's like memory foam: goes right back into place if lifted or shifted. I primarily do remodels, so i see all the consequences of new con roofers making dumb decisions and picking crap products. I replace more 15 year old OC shingles than anything else. Tamco isn't even in the running. Looks fine at the beginning, looks like shit after 5 years.
