I've had good results by cultivating a relationship with realtors, met them when I started out and was subbing new con from GC's. Talk to some home inspectors too.

 

Thumbtack and google ads work really well, I would look at joining next door and gaining a Facebook presence. Now, for more five star reviews you would benefit highly from an automatic review software (something like active campaign, MailChimp, etc.).

 

You might look into hiring a local marketer. In my experience that pays off a lot better than dealing with Home Advisor or Angie's List or the other guys

get on the map on the first page of google for your city with the keyword roofer.

 

I'd say there is some good advice in the comments. Word of mouth is always reliable. You can work on building your brand with Facebook and other platforms too.

 

Working with a website developer who knows how to get you ranked high in google is helpful in generating leads.

 

Not to split hairs but a "developer" doesn't always handle (or handle well) the marketing piece. The best option is finding a full-stack digital agency (ahem) who can either take an existing site - or build a good, new site - and properly market it while showing a good ROI that actually hits the wallet in a positive way.
