Just a heads up to some of you...there's a sneaky exclusion tacked on to some general liablity policies for roofers:

We do not cover any claim, loss, costs or expense for 'bodily injury' or 'property damage' arising from 'your' operations or completed operations for the removal of snow and/or ice.

This means what it says. If you have to remove ice/snow to do a winter job, you've given your insurance carrier a reason NOT TO cover any subsequent claim that may occur.

How do you know if you have this exclusion? Read your policy from the back. These types of endorsements are listed there.

Not every policy has this, but many do.
