The roof is approx 15 y/o. The ridge vent was leaking but I’m trying to squeeze at least another five years before replacement. I hired a licensed contractor to remove the ridge vent and install a ridge cap. He used metal flashing to fill the gap at the peek, then covered with ridge cap shingles. He has no explanation for the daylight shining through, I have concerns about moisture or even wind-blown snow entering the attic.
Am I wrong ?

Needs more nails in the metal, light is getting in where it has "fish eyes". Probably won't leak from rain but blowing snow getting in is a possibility.

Ok, thanks. That’s what I was worried about.
should have done this myself but it’s a 12/12 pitch and I hate going up there.
