This roof was installed today. On the right hand side there is this raised section of shingles. I brought the concern to the customer care representative. She told me this is common and that the shingles will level/set over time in the spring summer heat. Although I believe they will settle to an extent, it seems the side sections are a bit too high. The side sections were replaced before this roof was installed to stop bats getting in. I told them I felt the sides should have been trimmed so it was all level at completion. Professional opinions please would be greatly appreciated.

Yes something is definitely not right, and the roof surface should carry the same plane across. While it may never pose a problem as far as functionality is concerned, it certainly isn't a good look for your new roof, especially if it didn't fly up like that before the re roof.
