Hello all

new to this forum

question for you all. New home build. I believe they should have made the roof to go around the brick.Instead they cut the brick so the roof could pass through.Does this look right? Should there be some flashing applied? Thank you

Yeah, that's no good, builder scheduled things backwards. Brick before roof, so any needed flashing can go on the outside of the brick. If it isn't leaking now, it will be soon.

Since the roof isn't that old, a skilled roofer should be able to remove the shingles where needed and re lay them with the step and then counter flashing. The cost is dependent on prevailing labor rates in your area. That said, if this is under a year old, it should be on the builders dime to fix it,. You might want to think about getting in touch with your local bldg inspectors office and having them take a look, I can't see how this could pass the final occupancy inspection. In my area at least it would not have.

I have one other question. If you could. I was going through my old pictures of the house being built and the roof was put on before the brick. What the reason be for the brick layer cutting the brick like that. Just lazyness?
