Is anyone using an infrared camera/thermal imager to find roofing leaks? We are thinking about purchasing one, but were wondering if anyone has any experience with them or recommendations about which one works well for roofers.

Thanks for your help!

We have Flir I series, which works well. I guess you can get a capacitance tester with bluetooth which will communicate with the camera.

Whatever camera you get, I suggest taking the courses offered by the company. They aren't point and shoot and definitely require a bit of knowledge and interpretation.

The hardest part of the camera is waiting for the right weather conditions. For built up roofs you need to have rain followed by a day or two of sun, and then you can only scan at sundown.

Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback. We have actually been looking at the Flir I series. We haven't made a decision yet, so would appreciate if anyone else has any experience with these cameras and could offer some advice.
