This was a first for everybody on the roof, We have a tar and gravel flat roof, about nine squares. The previous H.O. layered chicken wire with LOTS of nails then flooded it with concrete. Ten men and two and a half days to remove this.

I have had to do that on commercial buildings before, but a bobcat and a jack hammer were a necessity to proceed with any degree of progress. But, there was also a concrete span deck under the top layer of concrete, not a plywood deck.

Geez, how the heck did that not collapse?

I suppose lightweight concrete? The deck is 1" X 12" planks over typical joists. Looking over at the next door neighbors I see the same thing. Chop sawn into small pieces and brute force got this one done. H.O. approved the change order $$$.

I was out of town and the owner bid this while I was gone. H.O. still paid the difference for the extra labor.
