I started in construction a few years after high school working as a laborer for a brick mason in Chester County , Pennsylvania. My dad retired from the Army and moved to Florida and after a few guilt laden phone calls I moved down there to be close. It was no problem getting a construction job in those days and I started as a carpenters laborer and in a few years was accepted into the carpenters union. The construction industry slowed down and I had the opportunity of a lifetime, that being to fulfill my childhood dream of being a firefighter. The county was kind enough to pay for my college tuition that in turn made me eligible for promotions. The promotions put me a position to manage people and programs which is exactly what I do in the remodeling business.
