Re: Marketing Reasearch
Hi Dave,
I'm actually trying to find out what the market is like in the roofing industry in NC & SC. I'm trying to put a business plan together and I'm having trouble narrowing down my customers. I'm also trying to find out what people are looking for; how should I market. I want to concentrate on commercial roofing. Thanks, Michele |

Re: Marketing Reasearch
Commercial Roofing Is A Huge Business!!
With commercial roofing products like Single Ply, EPDM and Modified, Architectural Sheet Metal, Foam, surface Coatings this is a very specialized business, and can pay-off quite nicely if operated correctly. Commercial roofing products include roof accessories, metal edge details, drainage systems, scuppers, collector boxes, pitch pans, custom fabricated products, and may require a large insurance policy or bond, and a larger credit limit at a vendor. Are you Certified and licensed by any major manufactures roof systems? I would think this would be the place to start. Talk with local supply distributors.. ;-) The great thing is you know what you want! Check Out This Website: http://www.bplans.com/ I do wish you the best of luck Michele Quote:

Re: Marketing Reasearch
The industry will benefit from a recovery in the residential construction market, which has a direct influence on demand for roofing contractors. While commercial construction will still face adverse conditions in the first part of the five years to 2015, but overall industry demand will rise. Furthermore, the adoption of solar panel products in an effort to "go green" will benefit operators.

Re: Marketing Reasearch
Dave what would your recommend for a start up roofing division of a licensed General Contractor. I have started a Facebook group for customers, Twitter for general facts from our company, you tube for informational videos, blast emails to local realtors, flyering(to homes and realtor offices), a magazine ad, and also subscribed to service magic. As well as door to door which generates about 10 people a day during the week that are home and interested. I am handling this division on my own as sales and production with a crew of 30 experienced guys who just need me to generate the work. Are all of these avenues going to be effective for me or is there something else that you believe I can do or something I am doing the should be stopped?
Thank you, Krgalligar |

Re: Marketing ReasearchQuote:
It has partially been addressed, but you really need to identify what area/aspect of commercial roofing you want to address. Apart from which systems you want to install, you need to further identify who you would want to be working with (government, healthcare, new construction, property management, etc). You can obviously be involved in more than one of these areas, but if you are just starting out you will have a much higher chance of success if you know EXACTLY who your customer is and how you can help them. There are some really experienced contractors in the Carolinas. I know one Salesman who works out of Charlotte that has sold between $10MM - $12MM each year for the past 3 years... that's just one Salesman! Those big companies cast a big net. My advise, find the segment or niche of the market you want to focus on and become the master of it! The smaller the pond, the easier it is to be the big fish. Niche is Rich!!! |
