When you show them samples or literature are showing them more than one manufacturer?

Do you know if one manufacturer is more popular with your prospects than another?

I don't bring in sample boards unless they can not make a decision from the brochures.

I show Tamko Heritage and Certainteed Landmark, but due to the wider array of colors and the larger profiled colors in the Tamko Heritage brochure, that is the one that gets chosen most often.

They usually ask my opinion and I inform them all of the big names are near equal to each other, both for very good lines of products and several lines that have had problems associated with them.

Plus, if thay can not choose from the smaller brochures or next step, the sample boards, I have a reference list with every shingle color and style available for their needs for them to drive by and see an entire home.

I dislike letting it get to that point, but it is available if it helps them.

I strongly disagree with Rodney about making decisions before giving the quote.

I bought some of his tapes and personally I think "tin man".

The only decision that I am concerned with is if they want to hire me. Then and only then can we get into picking colors.

I include my ventilation solutions and I include 5-star warranty. If they like me, but can't seem to justify my price, I use this as a barganimg tool. You can't lower your price without taking something away.

I'm with Outlaw. I don't put the cart in front of the horse.

However from the tin man approach, having them make decisions is getting them to think about owning the product. When you can get them to think about owning the product you are closer to the close.
