CA Contractors License Help
Hello Roofingtalk! Do you have questions? I have answers!
My name is Phil. I'm a former California Contractors State License Board Application Technician. I've been helping contractors with their licensing questions on contractortalk for quite a while now and thought I'd come over to this forum to offer my help and advice to anyone who needs it here. If you have a CA licensing question, fire away. |

Re: CA Contractors License HelpQuote:
I have an IICRC certification for water damage and microbial. I hear the CSLB is going to come up with some new D Series of licenses? How do I get one? Also, I have a C-20, C-36, C23, C39, and a B classification. How can I qualify for an A classification for public sewer work from the property line to the city's main? This is all right! Our own personal CSLB man. I'm probably going to get answers faster than waiting on the telephone for someone in Sacramento. Thank you very much. Last edited by pcplumber; 03-17-2009 at 11:47 PM. |

Re: CA Contractors License HelpQuote:
There are C-61 classes aka D classes. No trade exam required, just show 4 years of experience and bam... it's added to your license. What are you looking to do? With 5 classifications on your license already, I'm sure you'd have no trouble qualifying for the A-Gen Eng exam!! It just depends on how you word your experience on the app. That's my specialty ![]() To be honest... during my 5 years at the Board I hated listening to people who moaned constantly about the effort it took to get to a live body. I didn't mind listening to them, I sympathized. I hated the fact that the Board makes it so difficult for people to get the answers they need. That's one reason why I started this biz 4 years ago. To give people the help they need, the answers they want. Lately, the morale at the Board has been so bad, most techs don't care if they help you or not. Pretty sad if you ask me. Ask all the questions you want pcplumber. Use me and abuse me like a cheap.... Seriously, I'm here to help any way I can.

Re: CA Contractors License Help
I surfed a bit and what I found is that fire/water damage restoration does not include home rebuilding.
BUT... if they are "contracting" for repairs, and the contract is above the $500 limit... they should be licensed. I still want to contact an investigator I worked with at the board so I can get more enlightened on the subject. |
