Hello Roofing Biz....
This a mere 6 weeks after my first start in actual 'sales' of roofing. If you can call what I do actual 'sales...' Though, I guess the vast cross section of people I deal with day to day, you'd be crazy to suggest what I am doing is not sales.
I have always been in the labor side of the equation of construction until very recently. And, I might add, I loved the process of getting my hands dirty and building as much as I loved college: I started off strong in the first semester then sold my books come second semester and went on Phish tour. Obviously, many people would argue it is laziness that drives a person to do this sort of thing... Lose interest in this sort of way... But I'm sorry, that's just not the case. On the actual labor end of things, you work for a set dollar amount, and no matter how excited you are when things first begin, it always tapers off towards the middle.... Then you notice the guys in the rather clean, knit Polos that sign your checks, and you think to yourself, 'why the hell am I not doing that?' Well, I started doing it. I have been solidly selling for about six weeks, and have easily out sold everyone in my company already... Not hard given the numbers... And to be honest, I have learned so much in the last six weeks, it puts my first couple years of achieving a liberal arts degree to shame... But I digress, I'm unsure of what this company I work for is really up to. I know they are a solid company, don't get me wrong. We put on good, solid roofs... And I am proud what has gone down thus far. But I am starting to look toward more. I suppose I saw the roof roll back off that ceiling, and I got excited... Truth is, I'm the only one signing contracts on the reg at this companies branch... I'm not privy to the particulars, but I can't imagine the amount I make them is enough to warrant them keeping this place alive very much longer. Don't get me wrong, I love the guys I work with, I just honestly question what is gonna happen here... I wanna cover my bases. I don't want to stop right now.... I am very excited about what I am doing. Truth be told, I'd like to come down to Austin and see what I could do there. And I like any serious, well planted roofers in austin to email me and tell me the type of skills I would need to make it down there. I have wanted to move to Austin for a long time, and I feel that time is here. please get up with me: randomnumbersandletters.black@gmail.com thanks y'all |
