2nd generation roofer

found this site while searching roofing products. I am a second generation roofer from ontario, canada, my business has been around for 33 years. My father started the business back in 1977, I have been working in the business for the past 20 + years. We install ashphalt and rubber roofs. we have shingled pretty much everything there is to shingle, but the reallity is each day we see all kinds of different methods and challenges which challange us or make us wonder why we took up this trade!. My most challenging prodject to date was an old church which we had to put patterns in, i posted some of the pics in the picture forum. Thanks Jeff Anthony , Al Anthony Roofing Ltd

Re: 2nd generation roofer

Hello Jeff,

Well things have changed, and some for the good, and some things are a pain in the Nail Gun.... :-)

But, some of the good things that have helped us roofing companies, are computers which help our office process jobs and billing with simple easy to use programs. Also using a ladder hoist, roofing nailing equipment, and better tools which allows us to complete more jobs, and make more money.

I really think we have better tools, better products and we charge more money for the roof jobs, and yes we do have OSHA, Towns & Cities who can make our lives miserable, but we have to work through the tough problems to get to the other side.

It is like this for every business Jeff, hang in there Buddy !!!

Keep up the good work!

Dave
