Google search.

Yesterday while doing a search via Google a topic from here in roofertalk showed up on the search, when i clicked on it the thread opened up here.
My question is,
would it have opened up for someone not logged in?
or is there some kind of blockage you need to install?

Just curious as to rather or not a non member could see postings here.

Re: Google search.

Only professional contractors can join this site but anyone can read it's content. Does that answer your question?

Re: Google search.

Steve,

Here is a tip for you, if you ever want to find an old post about a particular topic that you took great lengths writing a post about.

Google, SlyFox, then the phrase or word

For instance, if you only wanted to find out information that I referred to a particular product, then Google; Ed The Roofer, Smart Vent

You will find most if not all of your posts about that subject.

Unfortunately, Google may not have indexed 100% of al posts, but you can be reasonably assured that most of the content wil be discovered, which I have been advised is around 80%.

Thanks Ed.
I thought this area might be like the NRG members only area,
I'm glad it's not, i like the idea of discussions in the forums popping up in search engines.

Re: Google search.

I like having both public and private sections for discussion. Some things need not be shared with the general public.

Re: Google search.

We can add this. We have a "Business Lounge" for sensitive business topics on PlumbingZone.com and it's worked well. We let people in once they hit 250 posts.
