Pool Players?
Any pool "billiards" players here?
I'm captain of our 8-ball team 'Road Dawgz', and co-captain of our 9-ball team 'Road Dawgz 9', I'm a 6 in 8-ball and a 7 in 9-ball. We play only in the APA right now, have played in a couple other leagues but has been several years. Road Dawgz home page

Re: Pool Players?
APA league handi caps are,
All newbies start as a 'female - 2 ,, 'male - 3 all tho they recently changed the rules so it is possible for a male to be a 2 also, the highest hc you can have is a 7 in 8-ball and a 9 in 9-ball. If you play well enough to need a higher handicap than the above mentioned your considered amature pro level, thus you can't play in an amatures league. It's one of my get away from the world activities, I play 9-ball on mon- and 8-ball on wed- and both teams are family teams, 8-ball is me, wife, son, brother-in-law, sister, neice and nephew, 9-ball is me, brother-in-law, sister, neice and 3 nephews. My youngest daughter, who is in her second year of college now, damn I'm old, takes score for us some nights.

Re: Pool Players?
I played alot when I was younger. Even hit the road doing it a couple times. Never got into the league thing, though. Although, at 15, I was a short order cook in a pool hall in Denver, called the "Billiard Institute". I used to cook for 200 - 300 APA players over the weekends. Damn "Super 7's" tourneys, all Saturday & Sunday. I remember how serious they were..... maybe that's why I never did the league thing. (Plus I could never get 'em to play for anything on the 9 foots)

Re: Pool Players?
I learned in Tony G's pool hall in Campbell, Ohio shooting on 9's,
but yeah, in the league we are allowed to play on 8's if thats all the bar has but 99% of the time were on reg- bar size.

Re: Pool Players?
I started with 9-ball at 14 or so, then took up straight pool for a couple years. Then I went through a One-Pocket spell, but my true love was always 9-ball. Sometimes, if the asians wanted to gamble, we'd play some snooker on a 12' table they had a pool hall in Denver called 'Table Stakes'. Also, Three-cushion was always a good game to practice for angles and english. It actually helped my 9-ball game immensely.
Anyhow, I turned 18 and it was time to hang up the dreams of going pro and find a career. I would never be on ESPN-2 at four in the morning. No regrets though.Chris |

Re: Pool Players?
Billiards is a fun sport. My Daughter is just 4 1/2 years old and she will learn to play, maybe when her college days get closer and we all know the bar/ club scene is part of the college life- she will be able to hold her own. Maybe it will pay for some of her and her friends drinks...

Re: Pool Players?
I love 1 pocket....
also 3 cushion billiards.... but for a fun night with a lot of people.... 8 ball seams to be the game if the night.... partners.......winners keep the table.....50 cent Bottle game and cut throat pill game was a lot of fun..... I could shoot my ass off if no one was watching....but suck under pressure. I worked in a billiard parlor/ bowling alley for 6 years ..... rumor has it ..the fair haired foam roofer around here with the boyish looks is the one to look out for....
