New Hitachi guns chopping nails???

Hey guys I bought 2 brand new Hitachi NV45 AE 's and the guys are complaining that the guns are ocassionally chopping the heads of the nails when they get moving quickly. The top the the nail head is getting sheared of right below the flat part.

I went and bought a differnt kind on nails to see if it that fixed the problem but it did not.

Anyone had this issue before, recommend a fix?

We use the max guns too, they're virtually indestructible. Only complaints, they're heavy, and seem to drive a lot of crooked nails especially the older of the 2.

Play with the pressure on the compressor maybe.
Dial it down. See how that works out for you.
Hitachis are some of the best guns around.
I can understand 1 fun failing, but 2+?
Sounds like a design flaw.

Bostitch and Max share a lineage.
Max used to manufacture Bostitch's guns.
Both still use full round head drivers.
(very important in driving nails)

Personally, I'm a loyal Bostitch RN46-1.
No problems whatsoever.

Re: New Hitachi guns chopping nails???

I got a new Hitachi nailer but the "old" ones won't break. As a matter of fact have two brand new old style Hitachi's to use before the "new" one hits a rooftop.

The only big problem I've ever seen with Hitachi coil roofing nailers is that light little home owners version made a few years ago.

When the side loader version came out I scored a bunch slightly used on Ebay for $120-130 shipped. Most roofers didn't like the new style and either bought bottom loaders or fixed what they had and sold the new side loader.
